Custom Programs and Outdoor Activities

Let Camp Palehua's specialists and staff make your experience memorable! Please discuss your wishes and ideas with us; we would love to offer programs customized to your interests and needs.

 

The educational programs at Camp Pālehua are focused on conservation education from a cultural and scientific perspective. We offer a number of experiential learning activities that are built around conservation of the natural environment close to camp and in the extensive environment of Pālehua.

These include invasive species removal, native species planting, working in the nursery, erosion mitigation and gardening.  We also offer team building and adventure experiences through our low ropes activities, backpacking and nature hikes.

 

You are welcome to bring your own instructors, speakers, leaders and facilitators, or Camp Pālehua’s specialists can put together a memorable experience tailored to the needs of your school or group. 

We can help you thoroughly enjoy and learn about Pālehua by providing:

 

  • Guided nature hikes offering expansive views as well as introductions to the natural history of the area, including geology and native plants and animals. Learn about thegeology, geography and natural history of the area.

  • Visits to Native Hawaiian sites, interpreted by local cultural practitioners.

  • Team-building experiences on our low ropes challenge course.

  • Birdwatching opportunities to glimpse 'elepaio, 'apapane, 'amakihi and other native species.

  • Unique place-based learning experiences which introduce you to techniques for sustainable living, conservation and natural resources management.

  • Hands-on conservation service projects such as trail building and maintenance, invasive species control, seedling planting and protective fence construction.

  • Engage in team­building experiences on our low ropes challenge course.

  • Gain practical woodworking experience in the Camp's fully­ equipped wood shop, underprofessional supervision.
